Our verdict is fit-first, not a disguised fabric ranking
Moosehill's M015 page lists 90% polyester and 10% spandex, five pockets and zip-off legs. REI's Sahara Stretch Convertible page lists 88% nylon and 12% spandex, zip-off legs, and 31-inch regular or 34-inch tall inseams. These are the specific models compared; other Sahara and HikerFlex versions can differ. [1][2]
Our preference is the garment whose dimensions and return conditions make a failed fit least costly for you. REI's explicit regular/tall measurements make that part of the comparison easier. They do not prove its fabric is more durable, dries faster or feels better. REI is a nonaffiliate alternative in this article.

The reasons we would skip a convertible pair
If you never remove trouser legs during a trip, zip-off construction adds a feature you do not use. Our default would be the comfortable pair already in your wardrobe, provided it suits the planned conditions. A sale does not create a missing clothing requirement.
If the zipper sits uncomfortably when you sit, squat or step up, reject the fit while following the return conditions. A correct waist number is not enough. This is a proposed indoor fit check, not a report that either model chafed in our testing.
If your purchase is really about sustained rain protection, neither a quick-dry label nor a water-repellent finish alone establishes waterproof performance. A useful comparison includes the cost of being wrong
Compare the same delivered quantity and size, then check return eligibility, shipping responsibility and the time available before departure. Do not buy extra pairs simply to lower a per-item bundle price. A cheap pair that cannot arrive or be exchanged before the trip may be the wrong purchase.
In an invented comparison, Pair A costs $55 delivered with a hypothetical $12 return cost, while Pair B costs $70 delivered with a hypothetical $0 return cost. B is not automatically cheaper: keeping it costs $15 more, while rejecting A costs $12 under those assumptions. The choice depends on fit confidence and the actual policy, not a slogan about free returns.
What would earn a stronger recommendation
A measured comparison would need garment dimensions, repeated fit assessments, drying conditions, abrasion observations and washed-versus-new checks. We have none of that evidence for these two products, so we do not assign stars or call either a best buy.
